Forgive your Enemies, and pray for them

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you

Matthew 5:44

Who are my enemies?

Before we rule out our enemies, let’s first get something straight.

Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Ephesians 6:12

Our enemies are actually people that are send by the enemy to destroy us. While we are looking for a guy with a pitchfork, and red horns, the enemy actually masquerades behind vulnerable, and hurt people. It is people who cause us anguish, and despair, cost our sleep, and disturb our peace. Think of anyone you dislike, avoid, or rather not talk about, why do you dislike them, why don’t you want to be around them? Maybe because they bring out the worst out of you, they are being negative, or simply not pleasant to be around. Some of these people are bitter, angry, or hateful, and are send to destroy your peace. The ones I have found to be difficult, are the one’s that smile in your face, but are bitter, angry and resentful towards you. They will not confront issues, but pretend like everything is sunshine and roses.

They are our enemies, and are in need of rescue

Pray for them, and try to be good to them. I say try, because sometimes it is difficult to be around them, and they are the ones that need the love of Jesus in their lives.

Paul faced it, the followers of Jesus did, the early church did, your grandparents, their parents. You see there is nothing new under the sun as Ecclesiastes 1:9 puts it.

While we are getting mad at that co-worker, sister/brother, friend, let us remember who the real enemy is! The devil, and his puppets. They hate GOD, so they hate his creation, and his WONDERFUL creation is YOU, my dear! People that you think are against you, are just willing volunteers, and vessels of hate, the real enemy is the one who is pulling the strings.

We must rule out the spirit behind that person, because we are not in conflict with people, but that ugly spirit of pride, control, behind it.

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.

2nd Corinthians 4:8-18

We are not to get back at people, or speak evil of them, we are to let GOD, the Righteous Judge handle them. People allow the enemy to use them, and confuse them. We are not to be mad at people, we are to deal with the enemy of our soul. We are to focus our attention on things, and situations beyond people, and fight the WAR behind closed doors, in that secret place.

God and God alone knows the intentions and the motives of the heart. He weights the heart on the scale of integrity, and godly sincerity. We may see a glimpse of dishonesty, but he knows the full measure of the heart.

“Honest scales belong to God, for he, and he alone knows the secrets.” Proverbs 16:11 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of an angry God. Let go of the bitterness that is controlling you, and your actions.

I hand over my enemies to you Lord, [ you can list your enemies here] and forgive those who caused offense to me[ people who have caused you an offense] those who reviled against me, and falsely accused me. I forgive them, I bless them, for they did not know what they are doing! Forgive me for my trespasses, and deliver me from all my troubles, because at times I don’t know what I am doing. Take away my burdens, cast away my despair, deliver me from my anguish and distress. I surrender, I let go, into your loving hands, AMEN!
