1 John 3:7-10

7. Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

8. The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.

9. No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

10. This is how we know who the children of God, are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.

John is saying do not let anyone lead you away from God, but the one who always does what is right is righteous. He is a true follower of God, always following the ways and commands of God.

The one who is sinful of course always follows the devil, but the son of God appeared to destroy the devils work. If we accept him, we to will destroy the devils work in us and turn from darkness to the light. We will no longer hang with dark ppl, we will have a new nature, a nature that wants to do what’s right and good.

When we are saved we have a new nature, it’s like a light , a new conscious is in us that Steers us the right way away from darkness. We only take pleasure in good things, following God’s ways.

We know the children of God but their fruit, how they act, the things they do, how they honor God in their ways. But people who do not know God do not do what is right, they usually prefer to follow the world and darkness. We must love our brothers and sisters or we are not truly children of God.

Lord help us to follow your ways, to read your word, to put on the full armor of God. Help us to overcome any desires of this earth and look unto the next. Bring Joy to our heart as we seek you, to do your will.
