“Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still together on the way, or your adversary may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison.“ (Mathew 5:25)
Powerful verse isn’t it?
To settle is to make amends, resolve the situation at hand, or come into agreement, while you still have the chance.
Suppose two of you are walking, and one of you remembers that you owe your partner 20 dollars, right that minute settle matters with your opponent, so that no disagreement arrives on the scene. Or suppose you remembered that you wronged your opponent, settle matters with him/her right there and then, apologize, and allow God to do his part.
Do not walk away UNTIL you have settled matters, and have agreed to a settlement. If you do not, your opponent, in this case the adversary will accuse you before the judge, who will then hand you over to the officer, with complete authority to throw you into spiritual prison. A place of oppression, chains, and bondage. A place where confusion lies, disagreements build up, and disputes arise.
If you have sinned before the Lord, slipped, said something, did something that is not pleasing to his sight, or agree to anything that exalts against the Word or God…settle matters quickly. Before the adversary has a chance to accuse you, run to the Lord, and repent or your ways.
Don’t beat yourself up with mistakes, “should have, would have”, RISE up from that place, and walk in the newness of life, and God’s forgiveness.
Do not hide behind the bushes, but come clean with God. “Listen God, I messed up, I’m sorry!”
That is what he desires! He desires that his children come to him. Let us NOT run from him, but run to him!
GOD’S hand of Grace will pull you out of your misery, and give you another chance, DO IT QUICKLY!
