Holy spirit our comforter and help in times of trouble

Day 17

In the same way the Spirit [comes to us and] helps us in our weakness. We do not know what prayer to offer or how to offer it as we should, but the Spirit Himself [knows our need and at the right time] intercedes on our behalf with sighs and groaning too deep for words.

One of my favorite scriptures to pray! In the beginning of my journey with Christ, when I was still developing and growing in my faith, I would pray those very words into my life. Prayer is communication with higher authority in a form of request, petition, intercession, praise, coupled with thanksgiving. It is not just request, or one sided conversation, but a mutual effort on both sides of receiving end.

How is it that we can come to the throne of Grace and seek God on our situations? Because Christ has made the way. He ripped open the curtains, through dying on the cross, taking up all that was set up against us, all that blocked our way into God’s presence, and has made a way for us to come boldly before the throne of Grace.

What a privilege and honor to be able to come to the source, rather than seek a mediator when we are in our time of need.

It is the Holy spirit, our comforter, counselor, and helper, who knows everything about us, and stands for us. He alone is aware of our surroundings, and pays attention to our details. He knows what we are to pray against, and what we are to pray for. He is our helper, if we ask, we will receive, if we knock the door will be open to us, and if we seek, we will find.

When we are weak, and do not know what to pray, or how to pray, we must go to the source that does, and seek him about it.

In our weaknesses he is STRONG!

ONE TIME I was moved to pray for my father, I did not know the condition of his health, but God knew. He woke me up to pray, I allowed the spirit of God to intercede for him, in words and groaning that I myself did not even understand, and my father’s life was spared. And then another time when my husband was in danger, holy spirit prompted me to pray for his safety. I did not understand the reason, but the holy spirit knew, when I answered, he was protected, and shielded from harm.

If today you are prompted to pray my friend, step in the gap, and make yourself available, you might just be that vessel that God uses to accomplish his will. He alone and he alone knows all things, and the holy spirit will help us in our time of need.

Do you believe?
