For the time being no discipline brings joy, but seems sad and painful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness [right standing with God and a lifestyle and attitude that seeks conformity to God’s will and purpose].
HEBREWS 12:11 AMP
Who likes discipline? Don’t all raise your hands at once. Discipline when applied is not comfortable, but very much rewarding, because it brings fruit, or the results once it is applied.
As humans we like comfort, we like complacency, and we enjoy freedom, we don’t like anyone telling us what to do, and how to do it, but sometimes those behaviors can cost us, if we do not bring our body into submission, or correction.
You see, if we give our body a little too much of something it creates a habit. Too much of a good thing EVEN is bad for us. Too much of junk food, can create health problems, too much fun can create negligence, too much spending, can create an addiction, and addiction ruins lives.
Moderation and balance is the key to life. But who likes balance, let alone moderation? If you are not used to correction, balance may seem like an evil word, and moderation as a form of control, but if you understand the end result, or consequences, you would immediately understand the value and the importance of it.
I hated correction, I disliked anyone telling me what to do. I knew what I was doing. You couldn’t tell me I was wrong! I was too proud to admit I was wrong, and suffered the consequences of my actions… but when I humbled myself, and received correction, I found correction delightful to my soul. With each correction I would receive wisdom, and knowledge would be my highway, discomfort and pain was not such a bad idea after all.
Pain, sadness, and frustration for a moment, brings results of joy, happiness, and peace, for a lifetime.
– That exam that you are studying for will bring results in the next few years, and give you a promotion.
– Those babies you are raising, will be worth the pain, when they all grown and successful.
– That job you show up to every morning will be worth every penny once you are excel in the company in the near future.
Every bit of pain, and discomfort will be worth it!
Don’t be afraid of discipline, but rather embrace it with gladness, and watch your life change for better; watch better results, watch favor visit your house; watch God’s blessings fall upon your life, like rain at harvest, because rather than choosing foolishness, you are choosing wisdom, and wisdom is truly a delight to anyone who finds it.
