Help us Lord to see past hurts and insults.

Day 19

Be merciful (responsive, compassionate, tender) just as your [heavenly] Father is merciful

Powerful words this morning!

Concerning our enemies, and those that revile against us, for no apparent reason at all. Those who wish ill on us, and desire to hurt us. But before we even get a chance to respond, let us remember who our real enemies are.

Our enemies are not people, but principalities and powers of darkness, who simply use vulnerable people as their pawns, to do it’s evil work. Without awareness people do the dirty work of satan and fulfill it’s missions. Jesus teaches us to love our enemies, and be good to those that are raging against us. We are not to throw back insults, but simply love them to the CROSS.

I am reminded of a song, that I would like to bless you with.

Alas, and did my Savior bleed?
And did my Sovereign die?
Would He devote that sacred head
For such a worm as I?

At the cross, at the cross where
I first saw the light,
And the burden of my heart rolled away,
It was there by faith I received my sight,
And now I am happy all the day!

Was it for sins that I had done
He groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!
Well might the sun in darkness hide,
And shut His glories in,
When Christ, the mighty Maker, died
For man, His creature’s sin.
Thus might I hide my blushing face
While His dear cross appears.
Dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
And melt mine eyes to tears.
But drops of grief can ne’er repay
The debt of love I owe;
Here, Lord, I give myself away,
’Tis all that I can do.

Lyrics taken from

He even tells us to lend without expecting anything in return; offer kindness, offer mercy even when they don’t deserve it. When we do so, we are acting like the father, who loves humankind without expecting anything in return. He is a compassionate father, abounding in love, full of mercy. We must follow in his footsteps and be like him.

Father help us to love our enemies, and be good to those that hurt us. Help us to offer them a hand of GRACE, and pull them out of their gutters. Help us to see them past their evil actions, and past the accusations. We know we don’t fight people, but powers of darkness, who use them as a pawn, to do their dirty work. We love you God, we love them! Amen

Have you been blessed, and encouraged, Share this with your neighbor!
