A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity.
PROVERBS 17:17 AMP
I love PROVERBS!
SO MUCH wisdom, so much knowledge, so much depth in just ONE verse.
This particular verse comes out of the book of Proverbs– the book that is full of wisdom, written by Solomon, wisest man that ever lived. He compiled a collection of wise sayings, and ideas that have lasted through many ages, and have even reached our generation. These verses do not necessary relate to each other, but are like “drop mike” sayings! Solomon could have just said one thing, and walked off, and it would have been enough to make a point.
We will find varies verses that just hit the floor, and this one particular hits it right on the nail.
“A friend loves at all times.“
Not just because of who you are, or what you have, or even what you can can give, or offer, but EVEN when you can’t give, or have anything to offer.
This friend loves when it shines, and when it rains. They are your real friend, they back you up, and lift you up when you are down. This friend, or friends is a close confidant of yours, who is there for you in times of trouble, and through the rain.
There are people that will back you up, and will pray for you, but Jesus is a friend that is unlike any other. He will lift you up, when you are down, and laugh and cry with you through your troubles.
In my loneliest of times I had a friend who would be there for me, comfort me like no other! His name is JESUS!
He will even send you brothers and sisters who will stay with you through adversity; brothers, who will be there for you in times of trouble. They will pray with you, mourn with you, laugh and cry with you.
It is a blessing to have a friend who will be there for you, when things are not looking up; who will cry and laugh with you, and even pray with you, and for you!
This friend is send from God and is there to comfort you in times of trouble. But don’t depend on your friends too much because they too can abandon you, and forsake you, they are human after all, and are there for a season. Jesus however will never leave you nor forsake you.
Though mother and father forsake you, and every friend leave you, Jesus never will
And that’s a PROMISE
