This week, especially the last couple of days, I was directed to the book of Isaiah for deeper study and insight. Particularly chapter 1 where God rebukes Israel through prophet/seer Isaiah in verses 13-15 and then again verses 16-17

The many sacrifices, offerings, sabbaths, and varies gatherings that are offered are detestable to God. They have become a burden, rather than delight to God. Even prayers that are offered, God is simply not listening, or paying any attention!

Why? Because Israel, God’s former glory is unfaithful to God. She does, what is detestable in his sight, instead of doing what is right.

Such as seeking justice, defending the oppressed, taking up the cause of the fatherless, taking care of the widdows, those that are in need of rescue, and are left without a voice.

Wash and make yourselves clean. Take your evil deeds out of my sight; stop doing wrong.

verse 16

That’s our father’s heart! The fact that we are seeking justice for the abandoned, and pleading our cause for the missfortunate, is what gets his attention, not our endless sacrifices, worship, and offerings in vain overlooking the oppressed, and abandoned. Abandoned People, in need of rescue! That’s his heart beat, and that is what he desires of us.

Come now, let us settle the matter, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.

Isaiah 1:18

Let us Pray

Examine our hearts Lord, see if there’s any wicked, or detestable thing in us. A heart that murders the innocent, and a rebellious spirit and attitude that causea us to turn from you. Create in us a clean heart, renew a right spirit within, do not take your holy spirit from us, but lead us in a way of everlasting. Yours is the KINGDOM forever and ever, amen.
