Friends,

Have you ever heard an expression, “Eat an elephant in small bites?” That’s an expression that refers to tackling big tasks, in small sessions, one little segment at a time, one step at a time, finishing that big task in no time.

When looking at a project as a whole, our body, and mind, can feel overwhelmed, exhausted and stressed, even before starting . Instead of looking at the big task, as a whole, and thinking “elephant”, let us take one session of the project at a time, and think “small bites” tackling one session at a time, one day at a time.

I was doing my laundry last night, and by the looks of it , it seemed it would take days to wash, dry, fold and put away this pile of clothes. Did I mention schooling, and ministry, and all other tasks? We have had a powerage issue at our home, for more than two weeks. Without explanation, and not much progress, I have not been able to use the drier, for more than two weeks.

Can you imagine that? Laundry piles up by itself, magicly collects itself in the laundry hamper! Where does all this clothes come from anyways?

Laundry can pile up, and overwhelm even the most organized person, who happens to be me. I like my schedules, my way, on specific days, at a certain time.

I don’t like waiting, I don’t like skipping, I don’t like dragging

Can you relate?

Maybe for you it’s not laundry, or a powerage situation like in my home, maybe for you it’s that impossible task of getting things done on time, or that situation that’s out of your hands, or that minimal proverbial task, that seems to get bigger and bigger, every day. It seems overwhelming, and even excruciating to think about.

Whenever we feel overwhelmed with a project, an issue, or even a circumstance with no way out, it’s important to think of it this way.

I cannot get my task done in one day, or get that project done in one month, or even few months, but I can look at it from a different perspective, and do my best, without feeling bad about it, giving myself grace to finish in my timing, at my own pace.

Don’t you already feel better?

With this mindset

👌 My laundry is halfway done, I got a new drier, kids are situated, ministry is moving forward, life is more simple and less stressful! Things will get done in no time!

That is how we look at life, our situations and circumstances. Instead of saying why me? Why now? Let us embrace the situation, and make the best of it with God at our side.

Greater is he that is within us, than any situation/circumstance we face in this world.

As 1st John puts it in Chapter 4 verse 4

Little children (believers, dear ones), you are of God and you belong to Him and have [already] overcome them [the agents of the antichrist]; because He who is in you is greater than he (Satan) who is in the world [of sinful mankind].
