40 DAYS WITH GOD for personal reflection
Reading for Personal Growth, 40 Days with God Reflection by Matthew Myers

DAY 10 It's about others too
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as mighty strength.
This bit of verses was a bit different than the reading plan has presented me with to this point. It took me a good deal of thought to understand as this reading plan is designed to help you forge a closer relationship with God. Then, I realized this passage is reminding us that it is about others more than it is about ourselves. While we are to pray for ourselves and work to develop our own relationship with God, it is important to remember that we are (as the day 9 verses stated) but one small part of the body of Christ. We have to pray for the rest of the body of Christ to have great success in developing their relationship with God and their spiritual advancement as well as our own. When all of his people grow stronger, we all grow stronger. Pray for one another and support one another in this walk so that as a whole, the body is made better and we can rejoice in it.
