DAY 15 Wake up oh sleeper

Personal Reflection with Matthew Myers

…and I am now caught back up. Sorry, God. I slacked over the weekend) 👈 Take note of that 👈 Today makes the above statement a bit more poignant. Seems to do that a lot with these.

” Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent. But if you do not wake-up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you. Yet, you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me, dressed in white, for they are worthy. The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life but acknowledge that name before my father and his angels.”

Revelation 3:2-5

The above is from a letter written to the church in Sardis. As you can see, that church has been messing around, and not fulfilling God’s mission for us all. It says that there are a few who have not soiled their robes. These are the ones who are in the church, and sincerely love God, and are trying to do his work, leading others to God. The rest are still in the world. They may be hanging out in church, but that is all. They are still dead in Christ. This passage is a warning and a lesson. The warning is obvious but it is also a lesson in that God has expectations for us as Christians. He expects us to try to live to his standards as an example to others. He expects us to do works in his name which he puts in our path. Elsewhere it says (I hope I word this correctly) the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. There are so many out there who need to be reached by God’s word, but so few who are actively trying to spread it. Again, I am no better than anyone and probably worse than most in this, but I am trying. I, as I grow in Christ, realize though. I CAN NOT, WILL NOT just be another seat filler at church and be dead in Spirit.

Please Lord, continue to work in me that I may be an instrument for you in this world.

There are those, even in the church, that when judgment day comes the Lord will not know. Those are the ones who are dead in Christ. Do not let these people lead you astray. The ones who follow his word and work for the Lord. They will be the victorious ones.

If you have been blessed, pass this on!
