40 DAYS WITH GOD for personal reflection
DAY 18 Encouragement
Reading for Personal Growth, 40 Days with God by Matthew Myers
Edited by Lena Joseph
Another day where the post is late but at I am trying. Seems the enemy does whatever he can to keep me from what I believe I am supposed to do powerful nugget here
“I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name. I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you. Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”
I am literally amazed every day as I do this scriptural engagement method of bible study. Four little verses. Four but with so much to say. The first verse is a message of promise and of hope. Knowing there is nothing we can do on our own to save ourselves or prevent ourselves from our fate of eternal damnation for our sinful ways, he tells us that he has prepared a way. Opened a door that no matter how powerful the enemy may be, he cannot close that door. He can do nothing to actually prevent us from accepting Jesus and his mercy. No matter how strong the enemy seems, he has already lost the war. He may win some battles. He may keep us in whatever funk we are in; addiction, sin, unforgiveness, but there is nothing that says we have to stay there. God has opened a door that none can close to us. GET UP. Use that door and let Jesus into your life.
The next verses remind us that he is in control and has already won the war. When the time comes, the enemy and his army of mighty deceivers, be they politicians, wayward clergy, or even that social influencer on your favorite social media site, will all bow down and acknowledge God. They will know that he is God and those who follow him are his beloved and chosen people.
And lastly, this world will one day come to an end. In these verses it says soon but we do not will know the time of His glorious return. But, he says to hold on to his teachings and his promises that he has already given us. Do not let anyone take that from us for when he returns, because we have kept his teachings and have followed him, he will take us home and we will not have to endure the time of tribulation. A time that he will basically let the enemy have control of this world yet God will send trials to the world that will break the enemy and those people left in it. More will come to know the Lord during this period but unfortunately they will have to endure the trials. Save yourself from that and accept God.
God has shown me so much in these small bits of scripture. I am looking forward to continue reading in this manner to see how much is here. How much I have missed. We are given so much in the Bible yet reading it, we often miss so much of what is there. The Bible tells us everything. We just have to read it, study it, and absorb it for it to sink in. Remember God’s promises. He has never let us down on a promise and he never will. That door is always open and if you do not know him. Run through it. Your Heavenly Father is waiting on the other side to greet you with open loving arms.
