21 DAYS OF GREATFUL HEART- DAY 7

Just a single verse today, WHAT???? How can a single verse justify a day’s reading. Well I guess it depends on the verse doesn’t it. Let’s see:

Scripture To Ponder Upon

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

OK…so what does that mean and what does it have to do with being Grateful. It means we have a purpose to our life. We were created and made by God to be the instrument of his good will and to good works. Works that God himself has already put into motion and created for us to do.

So what does that really mean, why am I to be grateful for that?

I believe we can all agree that as individuals we are pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. One life among billions on this earth right now. Not to mention the millinea that have come before and however long remains after we are gone from this earth. Billions and billions of lives. Great men and women like Abraham, Joseph, Jonah, Isaac, David, I could go on from the bible but even in modern times, Billy Graham, Oral Roberts, the Popes, Mother Theresa, just to name a few. Big names, important people out of the billions and billions, yet God knows you and I. He has made plans for you and I as well as set things in motion so that we can do good works in his name. Little insignificant us! Pretty cool isn’t it, that our heavenly Father would take the time to even consider us, much less make plans for us and set things in motion involving others for us to be able to do good works.

Think about planning something for someone else. Pretend we are planning a party for our friend. First we have to find a place to have the party that is available when we want to have it. Once we find it, we have to secure it to be sure it is available. Then we have to begin to assemble the guest list. Sending out invitations to everyone we want to be there. Phone calls, emails, text messages, or even written invitations have to go out. Now there comes the food. You have to get the right snacks or is it a full meal. Is it catered or will you prepare it. Don’t forget entertainment. Will there be clowns? a band? a DJ? games? or just a gathering of friends. You get the idea. All this planning a doing to set things in motion to have a party. A party that you have to plan months in advance. Now think about God planning a setting into motion things that will allow us to do a good work in his name. How many adjustments to peoples lives have to be made to push you and this other person to the same point at the same time, just so you can do a good work. With all the people out there throughout time, it seems impossible but God took some of his time to do all of that for me. Not to mention everything else in my life.

That consideration for one as truly insignificant as I am by God is amazing and worthy of Gratitude and Thanks.
