Grateful Heart- Day 13

Grateful Heart- Day 13

Read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

This one got me. What do we pray for? Things that matter? or things that don’t? Now let me ask that another way, Do we pray for things that matter in this world or the next? Do we pray for things that will glorify God or us?
This comes back to being thankful for what we have. Are we focused on our Father and being thankful for what we have or are we concerned with the fleeting things of this world. Do we we pray for the unnecessary things or are we thanking him for the necessary. While we all may want our home team to win the big game, or would really love to get that new television on sale, or for our spouse to get a big promotion that should not be the primary focus of our lives and our prayer life.
While there is nothing wrong with desiring better things in your life here, do not let them become your primary focus. Don’t let your desire and focus on things of this world override your appreciation and thankfulness. Did you wake up in a safe place this morning? Did you get something to eat? Are your needs all met? Spend more time being thankful for these than praying for things that do not matter. When was the last time you asked God to forgive you? What have you done wrong since then? When was the last time you ask God to guide you towards his will for you? What are you waiting for? When was the last time you were truly thankful to him and not setting him up for something else you want in return? So were you truly being thankful?
When the time comes and you are standing before the Father, do you think it will matter more that the home team won the game or that you praised him and thanked him for what you have.

Think About It

What is God saying to you today? Who or what are you grateful for? There’s always something to be grateful for!

Have you been ignited, inspired, encouraged?
