A giving up of control is called surrendering. It means letting go of power or authority. This can happen in many different situations like war or in personal life. Surrendering can be difficult, but it can also be important for achieving peace.

RECENT BLOGS

I was thinking about this today, and have brought up this discussion with my little one’s at breakfast table.

Laying ones life down for another is an act of surrender.

What does it mean to sacrifice?

To which my kids responded

The oldest : “It’s not just kill, it’s also love. You put down your work, so you can help another.

The youngest : “Give your heart to God

Very insightful words! Both are accurate, and each perspective is quite unique.

Sacrifice is an act of surrender, an offering to God, as a sweet smelling, or aroma of perfume. In the early days of Israelites, sacrifice was an important act of surrender to God. The clans of Israel sacrificed lamb, goat, and bulls to please their maker, as well as grain, flour and oil, and varies other sacrifices.

Thank God that today we don’t have to offer physical sacrifices [ lamb, goat, bull, doves, grain, flour, oil, wine] to atone for our sin, but rather call on the name of the Lord. When Christ sacrificed his life, he surrendered his life once, and for all, he atoned for our sins once and for all. We can thank our Savior for the sacrifices that were made; beating, bruises, piercing, slander, blood, sweat, and tears, and glorify our King, through the act of surrender of kindness, love and understanding, towards others.

When we sacrifice our time, energy, and are helpful towards others, we send an aroma of sweet perfume, that is pleasing to the Lord.

Now it’s your turn, what does it mean to sacrifice, and how can we sacrifice in our daily affairs of life?
