Forgiveness Prayer

by Lena Joseph

When we find it difficult to forgive someone who has hurt us, we need to revisit the moment we lost our blessing. This is the instance that built barriers and caused breakage, the point where we drew a line and chose not to cross over it.

Forgiveness, Tough topic to discuss, tough subject for me to write about. I used to forgive and forget quickly, until forgiving became my normal, and a way to protect myself.

Someone hurt you, forgive. Someone offended you, let it go.

After a while, my heart became hardened, and it was not easy to forgive.

I use this method

When we find it difficult to forgive or someone who has hurt us,
1. We need to acknowledge the hurt, we need to feel the hurt, and understand that we are first of all

Human, with feelings with emotions,

we are not robots, we are not a machine that we can turn on, and off.

We need to reflect to the moment we lost our blessing, as this is when we built up barriers, and fell into silence, marking the point at which we made a choice

NOT to confront it,

2. Forgive ourselves for allowing the hurt to affect us, for creating walls, then move forward.

It's easy to forgive and forget those who are not part of our lives, the challenge arises when these individuals are close to us, such as our spouse, parents, or siblings. In those cases, the real difficulty lies in coping with the hurt and managing the pain while continuing to live together.

its a PROCESS

3. Allow yourself time to heal, confront the hurt, acknowledge the hurt, and ask GOD to do the rest. If situation allows for reconsaliation open your heart, if not wait and allow the process to work it's way.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Proverbs 27:17

Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

James 5:16 WEB

Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The consistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

FORGIVENESS PRAYER

Lord

These heavy burdens of mine, are too heavy to carry, these problems, and struggles, are too heavy to bear.  You know them by name, and situations at hand. Your burden is light, and your yoke is not heavy, greater is he that is within, then he who places burdens upon me. I can do all things, mighty things, marvelous things through Christ who gives me the strength.

Forgive me father

I was caught unaware, and ignorance got the best of me. I should have been more careful, but I let the enemy sway me, now I’m crying out in desperation, please save me. I fell into his trap, and he caught me with his net, but you rescue those who are caught in despair, and deliver them from all their troubles.

Forgive me, and my offenses, blot out my transgressions, have mercy on me. I repent of my ways, and seek to honor you, and your name. I trust that you will see me to my rescue, provide for me, shield me, and protect me from my enemies.

I forgive myself, and those who have wronged me in any shape or form. I let them go, and the situation at hand, Amen 🔥

I forgive ________ you can say their name here) for hurting me, or allowing myself to hurt me in any way, shape or form. ( you can name the situation here. All the debt that I am carrying, I apply the blood of Jesus to the situation at hand. The debt is paid, and I forgive their offenses/trespasses against me. Holy Spirit wash me clean. No evil shall befall me no disaster come near my dwelling. Command your angels to guard me in all my ways. My foot will not dash against a stone, you will rescue me. Cover me and keep me under the shadow of your wings. Let me receive the joy of your salvation, and walk into freedom. Release these burdens of mine, these feelings of un-forgiveness in my heart. By your stripes I am healed, from the top of my head, to the soles of my feet. I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of GOD, there is no shame in me. I surrender my all to you, amen! Matthew 6:14; 1 John 1:7; Psalm 51:2; Psalm 91:10-13
