GOD is my resting place

David the Psalmist knew this all too well. He started with this statement in his thoughts, because he himself has seen the Almighty move his hand in his life. He had experienced God’s refuge and strength, when everything else, failed him. He ran to God, and found safety, knowing God will protect him, and shield him from all harm and danger. David faced battles, and troubles were all around him, yet he didn’t focus on his troubles, or his enemies, he focused on God, and his promises.

He who dwells in the shelter of the most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord ” my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.

Psalm 91:1-2

To dwell is to live at a specified place for a time, and to abide is to remain constant for a prolong period of time.

As a little child who puts his trust in his earthly dad so we must put our trust in daddy God in heaven.

When we rest in God, and treat God’s presence as our dwelling, or resting place, we constantly find protection, comfort that we cannot find anywhere else.

Temporary rest fails us, temporary safety is not something we can rely upon. It is faulty, it is shaky, it is unsafe, and certainly not reliant. We need God’s hand in our life, to trust, and to place our confidence in him.

But oftentimes we forget

Prayer

Help us Lord to remember to run to you, rather than seeking temporary fix in the pleasures, and treasures of this world. Help us to seek your refuge, and your fortress as our resting place. When we put our trust in you, you will sustain us in the day pf our trouble. Thank you for your Grace, and your continued mercy, amen!

I pray this verse serves as a blessing to you this morning, and reminds you where your dwelling place is, and that is in the safety of our God Almighty.
