What desperation looks like

As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
Psalms 42:1
NIV BIBLE

Desperation – the state of being desperate or of having the recklessness of despair.

Pants:- To breathe rapidly in short gasps, as after exertion; desperation

Author: – Sons of Korah – musicians of the family clan ( Korahites)

This Psalm speaks of Soul Desperation and it compares this desperation to an animal that is thirsty or desperate for some water 💧

“Like a deer that is desperate after streams of water, so my soul is desperate after you” are what these musicians are proclaiming to GOD

Now I have never seen or come across deer in my life, except maybe startled by one, on the highway that one night, as I remember quite vividly, so I never got a chance to see this illustration up close, but I have seen desperation in its simple form and even illustrated it in my own journey of Spirituality.

Sons of Korah had a share of watching deer delight on water up-close to make such conclusion.

When you are desperate for something, or someone, you will do everything in your power to get it, or prove it.

If you want to grow your business you will be marketing your campaign, engaging and looking for customer base. When you are desperate for marriage, you will be preparing yourself for a man or a woman, putting your best foot forward in the relationship. When you are desperate for Jesus, you will look like a lunatic or fanatic to the onlookers;

But understand this!

Desperation is quite normal. We’ve all experienced it, we’ve all been desperate for someone or something.

That job we couldn’t wait to start, or that man or woman that we could not wait to marry, how about those first moments with JESUS?

WHEN we first fell in love, when we first committed our lives to him, it looked a little crazy didn’t it?

We didn’t care who saw us, or what everything thought of us, as the deer also does not care who or what is around. It is thirsty and it needs water ( fulfillment)

Next time you see a desperate person rooting for Jesus, don’t knock them, celebrate them, they might just be in that honeymoon stage where feelings are real and soul is on fire 🔥

When I found Christ after so many years, I was desperate!  I was desperate for his word, desperate for his presence, desperate for anything and everything that represented him.
I put everything to the side to spend time with him, to get to know him, and my soul craved him like never before.

This is what Sons of Korah are talking about here, desperation that looks like obsession to some.

You wouldn’t knock a newlywed couple, on their honeymoon, would you? Or a family that had just bought a new house? Would you tell a cancer survivor to keep it quiet, or football team to hush down ?

There’s a desperation in all of us, and it’s quite evident!

So instead of knocking people down for their belief, new found business, a newly married couple, a cancer survivor for their desperation, celebrate, and support them instead

That’s all, that’s my post!
