"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land."
2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV BIBLE

Let’s get an overview of the CHAPTER before we get to the verse.

In this chapter, Solomon dedicates the Temple of God. He had just prayed, the Bible says

..." fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. The priests could not enter the temple of the Lord because the glory of the Lord filled it."
2 Chronicles 7:1‭-‬2

When the Israelites saw what God has done, they knelt and gave God glory, singing ” he is good, his love endures forever ” Many of us can join in, and sing the entire song 🎵 in unison.

"Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord."
2 Chronicles 7:4

When we are done building God’s Temple, we are to dedicate this Temple to the Lord, with songs and lyre. We are to praise God for what he has done, and the glory of God will fill the Temple.

After some time, after the festival and all celebrations the Lord appears to Solomon.

These were his words.

“I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for myself as a temple for sacrifices."
2 Chronicles 7:12

the words that stand out to me in this verse are “heard” and “chosen“

let’s take a closer look

heard by definition is past tense of hearing; listen to.

chosen selected from several; preferred

So God has listened to the prayer and has selected from several others, as a place for sacrifices. In other words, God had favor on Solomon’s Temple because of how he dedicated this temple. When we are building to the Lord, whatever it may be, a business, career, our children, or spouse we must dedicate them to the Lord, and God will bless it! God will select your project because you have taken the time to dedicate it to him.

“When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place. I have chosen and consecrated this temple so that my Name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there."
2 Chronicles 7:13‭-‬16

GOD makes a covenant with Solomon and anyone that fills their position by dedicating their temple.

Even if trouble comes, persecution pestilence, sickness, God says my hand will be on your life, because of your Obedience to me. Because of your dedication to me, because of your consecration to me, because you have chosen, I have chosen you! ✨️ I have selected you because you have selected me!

Covenant is an agreement, an agreement between two parties, in this case, Solomon and God.

  • FORGIVE THEIR SIN AND HEAL THEIR LAND. Overlook the offenses caused and bring healing and restoration to an area of hurt.
  • Eyes will be open, ears attentive offered in this place, the temple of Solomon. GOD SEES AND HEARS prayers offered in this place.
  • His NAME will be there forever! HIS NAME, sacred name and authority, will remain forever. Eyes and heart will also be there. In OTHER words this Temple is SACRED and anyone that prays there will be heard.
