Divinity of Jesus | John 1:1-18

John the Author starts with an astonishing mystery, that none of the other GOSPEL authors share.

jesus, christ, god-4336337.jpg

” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “

John 1: 1

“and the word became flesh, and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his Glory, the glory of the one and only SON, who came from the father, full of Grace and Truth.”

John 1:14

” No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”

John 1: 18

Just like any story starts, In the BEGINNING, WAS THE WORD

What is a WORD?

A word is an utterance, a combination of sounds, something that was said

“and the word was with GOD”. And the utterance was with God.

And the word was GOD

God CREATED a WORD by simply speaking it into existence! The word GOD was always there, from the very beginning. Our human mind, and comprehension cannot fathom this.

John reveals to us the nature of that WORD.

John 1:14

John 1: 18

John reveals the deity, or godhead of JESUS, the son, who is himself GOD, in human form. He was with God in the beginning, and will always be.

I am a truth seeker, and there are many misconceptions about the deity or the godhead of Jesus. Some say he is GOD in three distinct persons, father, son, and the holy spirit (TRINITY), others say he is GOD all by himself ( ONENESS) I study to show myself approved to God, by testing both sides, and by studying the context of scripture. Until you do, you will be forever doubting in your mind, and blown by every wind of doctrine, and teaching. I experienced BOTH!

 “I am not the Messiah.”

They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” He answered, “No.”

John 1: 20-21

“John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.”

John 1: 23

In this Section John the author shares the TESTIMONY ( see definition above) of John the Baptist

John the Baptist reveals the Messiah ( see definition above) John 1:20-21

then they began to question him John 1:24

John replies

John 1:25

Finally John introduces The Lamb of GOD, the Chosen One in John 1: 32-34
