Tune in on the GO! My heart and thoughts on the TOPIC
Psalm 51:1-2; 7
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.
2 Corinthians 7:1
Foundational Scriptures
Psalm 139:23-24
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Matthew 5:23-24 WEB
If therefore you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has anything against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
David is asking GOD, to check him, and to search his heart. He knows he is human, and he knows his heart is wicked. He knows this, but he also knows GOD, and what he is able to do. So he gives HIM the authority to locate anything in him, that would be found offensive, blocking him from the presence of GOD. He is asking God to examine his ways, and lead him in a way of everlasting. Set his crooked ways straight, his mind renewed, and his heart examined
Set his crooked ways straight, his mind renewed, and his heart examined
Before we even start our day, we must ask the Holy Spirit to examine our hearts and thoughts and check our spirit. If there is anything in our heart or mind that exalts itself against the word of GOD or is offensive in us, to get rid of it. Anything that is not in line with the WORD of God, is to be taken captive.
Paul in the book of Corinthians is also urging the church of Corinth, as well as believers today, to purify ourselves from anything that contaminates our body and spirit, perfecting ourselves towards holiness out of reverence for GOD.
We live in the world, but we are not of this world. We exist in the world, but we function not as the world does. As we enter into the world we must not conform to the standards of this world, but rather renew our minds with God’s HOLY WORD. If there is anything in us that is causing us to act prideful, wicked, we must take that into account and hand it over to GOD. When we surrender to God HE is faithful and just to forgive us of all unrighteousness and cleanse our hearts. Psalm 51: 1-4
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight;
so you are right in your verdict
and justified when you judge.
Psalm 51: 1-4
Surely You desire truth in the inmost being; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones You have crushed rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquities.
Psalm 51: 6-9
What can wash our sin away?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5
Cleansing is a process intended to get rid of impurities or germs from the surface intended to clean something thoroughly, especially the skin.
For example, we take showers in the morning to stay clean and wash away impurities from our bodies. We wash our face, brush our teeth, and clean our hands, to stay fresh and ready for the day ahead. During this pandemic, we are urged to cleanse ourselves even more. We constantly check ourselves, keep a hand sanitizer in our purses, and constantly wipe down the surfaces we touch. Not only that we are encouraged to wear masks, wear gloves, and practice social distancing.
Cleaning is part of our daily routine, to improve our lifestyles and stay healthy
Just like in the natural world, we wash our faces, clean our hands, and take showers, our spirit, mind, and heart need cleansing too. Our hearts and minds can get polluted too. Our spirits can get impure too! With all the things that are going on in the world and all the negativity that is surrounding us, we should be cleansing our spirit even more so.
Not only that, the things we watch can be harmful to us, the things we hear can damage our hearing in the spirit, our spiritual vision can be damaged too, causing blockage and hindering the voice, and unction of the spirit of GOD. Because of this, we may not see things clearly in the spirit realm, hear, or feel with our senses. Our senses may not be clear, we may make assumptions, and with assumptions comes misunderstanding.
Just like we examine our bodies, and KNOW when we need to take a shower, or look at our hands, and KNOW when it’s time to wash hands, we must also examine our minds, and our hearts, through the word of GOD, and be AWARE of when we are in need of cleansing.
David, in pursuit of God’s heart, knew this all too well. He examined his heart, checked his spirit, and passed on a pattern for us to follow. A cleansing pattern, and it is found in the book of Psalm 139:23-24 followed by Psalm 51
As we confess our faults, and we ask the Holy Spirit to wash us clean through the blood of the LAMB
Prayer Of Cleansing
Before I start this day, examine my heart Lord, and know my thoughts. Are there any offensive thoughts in me, displeasing to your sight? Anything that hinders me, blocks me from your presence? Anything in me that does not bring you Glory? Take the awful stain of my transgressions, wash me clean, purify my heart, and renew my spirit. Let your GRACE and MERCY pour on me, let your love, and compassion see me. I admit my shameful behavior, and actions and ask you to step in. Cleanse me with your blood, that flows from Calvary, Wash over my mind, purify my heart. Create in me a clean heart oh Lord, renew a right spirit within me. Purge me with hyssop, make me whiter than snow. Fill me with your thoughts, cleanse my emotions, straighten my will power. I thank you father, for your loving-kindness, and mercy, in the precious name of Jesus, Amen!
Speak with Authority! You are cleansed, you are pure, you are righteous in the sight of God you have been washed. You are NOW ready for the day ahead!
