Balancing life, ministry, motherhood, and maintaining spiritual growth as well as other aspects of life can be quite challenging, managing daily responsibilities often feels overwhelming. At one point, I felt completely burned out from pouring into ministry work & building, balancing my act of motherhood, housework and life altogether. I wanted to give up. Throw in the towel. Burn out isn't fun. I knew something had to change...

I know I’m not the only one… 🥺

that’s when I came up with the idea of this article

How to BALANCE it all together, and balance it ALL with GRACE.

As a little kid, we were taught to gracefully fall, gracefully bow, and gracefully walk away, but never to gracefully push forward, or continue to press in. At least this is what my life looked like. I didn't have a team cheering me, a supportive mom, or aunt encouraging me, so I gave up easily, and threw in my towel quite often.

BUT I didn't STAY there!

God has given me the ability and wisdom to RISE from the ashes. To take a step back, observe, assess my situation, then come up with a solution, and rise VICTORIOUSLY with GRACE!

What was THAT one thing that constantly demanded my time and attention? I stood back, and reevaluated my life.

Ministry was overshadowing other aspects of my life. SERVING others in whatever capacity was needed. So I came up with the idea of group coaching rather than personal one-on-one sessions, and or burning out. That’s when Firestarter Ignite was ignited and created—a group space that allowed me to engage with others without constant pressure of personal messages filling my inbox, taking my time and energy, that I so often lacked behind the scenes. Shifting to a community-based approach gave me room to breathe, focus on my own growth, and pour into my calling without feeling depleted, pressured and burn out. Out of that space, my blog space was born—a place where I share faith, wisdom, and encouragement in a way that feels balanced and fulfilling. WHICH turned into a little more than just a little website...

Here's how I balanced my life with Grace

1. Stayed Connected to God’s Word

2. Journaling, Reflection, and Study

Journaling my thoughts and reflections helps me process what God is teaching me, and reading faith-based books strengthens my walk with GOD challenging me to grow and develop spiritually. Here are some of my favorite books to check out "Boundaries" by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend – Learning to set healthy limits while still honoring my calling. This was quite eye opening book to read, I have discovered as well as challenged my areas of no boundaries, and clearly outlined them. "The Walk" by Shawn Alexander – A simple guide to understanding Christian discipleship and different stages of it. I read this book along with my husband, we have been learning much, and applying what we learned to our lives. "Understanding Jesus" by Stephen M. Miller – A deep dive into the historical and cultural context of Jesus’ teachings, life, and miracles. Get ready for THIS one, it is quite challenging to read, but BOY is it informative and helpful in the long run.

3. Found Strength in Worship & Self-Care

4. Balancing Ministry, Motherhood, and Everyday Life

As a mother and minister, I’ve learned the importance of time management, grace, and boundaries, and it wouldn't be possible had I not read and prioritized these books, tools & resources in my life. Prioritizing Tasks – Making intentional choices about where my time and energy goes. I no longer spend time hours on the phone entertaining people, I am intentional with my time and energy. Assigning tasks & seeking support – Leaning on others in ministry and family life eases burdens. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” I have joined a Community of support, and I lean on that support to keep me grounded and balanced with my family, and personal relations with others. I am working on delegating tasks so my burden of being overwhelmed is lifted. I need GRACE in this area. Consistency & Grace – I have to constantly make room for GRACE, and learn to be consistent with my words and actions. Its not always easy, yet it is a challenge that I take on daily. Balance is a journey, not perfection—it’s okay to adjust and reset anytime you like. Motherhood has taught me so much about faith, patience, and unconditional love. It is the GREATEST GIFT to humankind and I do not take my position lightly. I used to be upset and embarrassed about my call as a mother, now I take pride and honor in what I do. I am intentional with my calling as a mother, and I am accountable to GOD.
Some books that encourage me in this season include: "Nourish" by Katie Farrell – Encouragement on balancing wellness and spiritual growth. I absolutely love and recommend this BOOK over and over again. I have read it at least 3 times. "Girl, Stop Apologizing" by Rachel Hollis – My latest read, and I am absolutely loving it. it's about embracing confidence and purpose without guilt, shame or condemnation, wearing your crown and shining. "Thrive" by Arriana Huffington – Living intentionally, creating a life of well being, wisdom and wonder.

How do you maintain balance in your life & faith journey? Let’s grow together!

We all need help—a coach, a trusted advisor, or a friend who can guide us in a positive direction, someone who will stand by us, push us to succeed, and never let us give up.

I hope THAT by sharing my experience, and my story I have motivated you to START making changes, and taking your life seriously too.
