Stewed cabbage is a simple and delicious dish that can be enjoyed on its own or as a side to any meal. I often serve it with rice or potatoes.
Measure, mix, and sauté the following ingredients:
1 tablespoon of oil and 2 tablespoons of butter.
1 chopped onion
1 grated carrot
5 to 6 finely chopped green onion stalks
2 cloves of finely chopped garlic
Add your choice of chicken (drumsticks, wings, thighs) that has been seasoned (salt, garlic powder, Creole seasoning)
Include 1/2 a finely chopped salted cabbage
2 tablespoons of Ragu Sauce or ketchup (Ukrainian cooks often substitute ketchup)
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
and 1 packet of Sazon Goya seasoning
Season to taste, with my preference being 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of Creole seasoning
Saute Vegetables: In a frying pan over medium heat, add vegetable oil and butter. Once the butter is melted, add the onion, green onion, carrot, and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are translucent. Season with salt, garlic powder, Creole seasoning, and any pepper to taste.
Brown Chicken: In a separate pan, season and brown the chicken on both sides until cooked through. Once done, add it to the vegetable mixture.
Prepare Cabbage: Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt over the cabbage and crunch it until the salt is evenly distributed.
Combine Ingredients: Pour Ragu sauce or ketchup over the mixture and stir well. Let it cook for an additional 20 minutes until everything is soft and well combined.
Serve: Serve warm with white rice or any type of rice. Enjoy!
FYI: YES Rice Cooker is the fastest and easiest way} I totally recommend it, but you can also saute in a simple frying pan as well.
