Running the Race
Marathon not a sprint Journey of discovery and growth Focus not disctraction Grounded in Faith Persevere through training, endurance and discipline

In our journey of faith, the metaphor of a race resonates deeply with the Christian experience. Just as athletes train diligently for a long-distance run, we too must prepare ourselves for the spiritual race that lies ahead.

Where are you in your Christian Walk?

The Nature of of a Christian walk is compared to running a race, not a quick sprint but as a marathon filled with challenges, growth, and perseverance. Some of us are in the beggining of that journey, others are a little bit more aheaad. Each step we take is part of a greater journey, leading us closer to our ultimate goal: a life fully devoted to Christ, and the GOAL at hand.

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6
God will finish what he started in us. He will complete the MISSION at hand!

The Race

Preparation

Before we decide to run a marathon we must first prepare for the Race.

the Race is not a sprint, but a series of journeys that lead to final destination ( our GOAL that is marked before us) Hebrews 12:1-2

marathon is a long-distance race that typically covers 26.2 miles, while a sprint is a short-distance race that ranges from 60 meters to 400 meters.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us
Hebrews 12:1-2

Get rid of anything that hinders you, and keeps you away from pursuing God's plan for your life.

Christian Life is a long term commitment, consisting of many journeys that ultimately lead to the GOAL leading in the same direction.

Endurance

Not only are we to run the RACE, we are to run with Endurance, knowing that every step brings us closer to our ultimate prize, the GOAL that is set before us.

the key to ENDURING is to trust GOD, Faith leads to peace and righteousness | 1 Cor 9:24

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
1 Corinthians 9:24 NIV
Be serious, run with intention, and focus on the prize.

Don't get distracted, keep your eyes ahead, eternal life with Christ rather than getting distracted by the shiny objects all around us, whose mission is to get us off track!

Stay FOCUSED and grounded. Obstacles may appear daunting, but by staying grounded in God's word, we renew our mind, and maintain our focus on his calling, as we navigate through the challenges with confidence and assurance.

Encourage one another to run this race together, supporting one another and celebrating our progress.

FOCUS

Stay on Track and and keep going | Phillipians 3:13-14

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead
Philippians 3:13 NIV

Just as athletes prepare for the marathon through training, Christians must also prepare spiritually for their journey.

This preparation involves prayer, intentional walk in faith and purpose, studying scriptures, and building community.

Stay focused on GOD | Matthew 14:22-33

But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Matthew 14:30 NIV

Stay FOCUSED on GOD and be grounded in his WORD.

The KEY to successfully running the race is to fix our eyes ahead, not behind.

When Peter lost sight of Jesus, he began to sink, illustrating how distractions get us stuck in our illusions and not make it to the finish line.

Community & Fellowship

We are not alone | Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.
1 Thessalonians 5:11

Apostle Paul encourages believers to "gather together and encourage one another". This verse emphasizes the importance of mutual support within the Christian community, urging believers to uplift each other as they have been doing.

Let us remember that our journey of faith is a marathon, not a sprint. It requires preparation, perseverance, and a steadfast focus on God. Just as athletes train for the challenges ahead, we must equip ourselves spiritually through prayer, Scripture, and community support. We are reminded to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, and to trust in the promise of Philippians 1:6 that God will complete the good work He has begun in us.

In this race, distractions may arise, and obstacles may appear daunting, but by staying grounded in God’s Word and maintaining our focus on His calling, we can navigate through the challenges with confidence. Let us encourage one another as we run this race together, supporting each other and celebrating our progress. May we all strive to reach the finish line, fully devoted to Christ, and ready to embrace the glorious future He has in store for us.

Let us run with endurance, knowing that every step brings us closer to our ultimate prize—eternal life with our Savior.

LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS 💭

Your Story is important to someone else. The details of your testimony are life to someone else. I couldn’t have spoken into strangers life, if I myself did not go through the battles. I can only speak because I know the pain, the hurt, and confusion. I pray God comforts us, and gives us the grace to tell our story, no matter how small the details are.

Let’s not hesitate to share our testimonies and help each other walk through the valleys, and reach our destinations together. With a sense of fulfillment, and helping others get there can be a rewarding and satisfying experience, because when we lift each other up, we don’t just reach our destinations, we thrive in them.

I’d love to share your Story on my SITE!
