Scriptures to Memorize

Two of Jesus disciples approach Jesus with this Question?

Can we sit at your right or left hand?

in other words, can we be guaranteed a SPOT in the Kingdom of Heaven? They asked Jesus for positions of honor in His kingdom. They wanted to sit at Jesus’ right and left in glory.

He asked them if they could drink the cup He would drink. If they could suffer like he did, pick up the cross, and follow him. (Matthew 16:24-26)

to which Jesus replies, “it is not my choice, or right to give position in the KINGDOM of HEAVEN, it’s my father’s right”. I am simply here to give an opportunity, but what happens in the afterlife, is not my right to GIVE, or make decition, I’m only here to pave the way. (John 1:27)

infact,

I personally would have been just fine with the fact that I was worthy to be called his disciple, let alone worry about eternal rewards, but I’m not James or John.

Key Points

We must be a servant : To be great in the kingdom, we must serve others. Whatever capacity we find ourselves to serve, serve with our whole heart. Not seeking validation or approval from human masters, but do it, as unto the Lord. 1 Cor 10:31

Serve with humility and a heart of surrender. Greatness by Jesus’ definition is surrender and humility. For God so loved the world, that he surrendered his will, for the will of humankind. John 3:16

Be GOD pleaser, not people pleaser. Don’t seek validation or approval from people, seek accolades by doing good deeds, and glorifying the father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:16; Galations 1:10

Gospel of Jesus

This blind beggar was FED UP and he CRIED OUT

Have MERCY on me!

  • I know you have the power to heal.
  • I know you’re the Mesiah – the promised one.
  • I have heard the miracles you performed.
  • I want to SEE.

Calling of Disciples

First Ministry of Jesus

Key Points

Cry out. This blind man had an opportunity to get his miracle, so he CRIED out, not caring about anyone seeing him, or hearing him. 1 Cor 10:31

Be persistant. When he was calling on JESUS, others got annoyed with him, the blind beggar was tired of his situation, so he cried out even more. He was persistant in his actions. He wouldn’t let go. Doesn’t that remind you of soemone else? The woman, who just wanted to touch the garment of his clothes. Matthew 9:21

Seek for your Miracle. Blind beggar did not wait on anyone to cater to him. He CRIED out, so JESUS could hear him. Jesus was known as the compassionate man who healed, delivered, and set people free. Bartimaeus CAME for HIS miracle, and wasn’t going to let go.

Pray and Apply

Pray that the Holy Spirit would examine your heart and speak to you as you reflect. Ask yourself if you are ignoring wisdom or disobeying God’s Word right now. If the Holy Spirit convicts you of sin, ask yourself, “Do I believe Jesus’s way is the best way for me to live?” Reflect on Wisdom’s promises for those who heed her instructions in verse 33. If you are willing and able, repent of any stubbornness or pride that has kept you from listening and applying wisdom in your life. Receive God’s mercy and grace, and open your heart and mind to the wisdom he has for you today.
