Mark the author sections the chapter into sections and into topics, in which he recounts a moment between Jesus and the woman with the Alabaster Box...
A group of people ( chief priests, high priest, elders and teachers of the law, & the Sanhedrin made their plans. They bound Jesus led him away( as the sheep) handed him over to the Pilate ( Roman official) (Isaiah 53:8)
They didn’t have to do that, he willingly gave himself up, in humility.
” The Sanhedrin was the supreme council of the Jews, responsible for religious and political decisions, while Pilate was the Roman governor of Judea. The Sanhedrin was the final authority on decisions affecting the religious and political life of all Jews, whereas Pilate was the Roman official who presided over the trial of Jesus. The Sanhedrin’s rulings were binding, while Pilate’s decisions were based on Roman law and could be influenced by local customs and traditions. ” – BING
Both were needed to rule out a decision on what to do with Jesus
Sanhedrin – to take note of the account of wrongs, accusations, or offenses committed.
Pilate – deciding a final matter
Question : ARE you the KING of Jews? Jesus once again spoke truth.
It is as you say, you have said so, that is the truth.
Do you have nothing to say, against the accusations? Jesus stood silent once again.
As it was prophesied in Is 53:7
It was customary at the festival ( passover feast) to release a prisoner whom the people requested.
A man called BARABAS – worst of the worst ( unaliving, leading a rebellion) or Jesus king of Jews, accused of Blasphemy
Chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Barabbas ( the criminal ) be relased
Unalive him, crucify him ( condemn him)
Pilate was a people pleaser, whatever they wanted, so he did as they requested him.
Flogged and unalive him.
You can read the entire Chapter, or come along on the journey with me, to listen to my Podcast on Mark 15-16
Mark 13
Mark 14
“600 Soildiers came together to make mockery of Jesus “ – Gospel of Mark 15
600 soldiers, a whole battalion mocking him.
Jesus – the son of GOD
Could have called angels to defend him, to protect him,
This was his PURPOSE
To be unalived, and on the third day raised to LIFE
Dressed him as a king, in purple robe, with a crown of thorns on his head, mocking him and parading infront of him, kneeling and bowing in mockery…
Passion of CHRIST movie depicts the moment but theres no way the actor could express what actually happened that day.
– ACT ON THE CROSS
Forced Joseph to carry the cross.
Golgotha – the place of skull where they unalived him, dividing up clothes, they cast lots to see which oart they would get.
He was unalived at 9am, Labeled him as KING OF JEWS alongside of two other criminals.
You said you would destroy the temple and build it in three days, here is your fate, not realizing that what was done, was all part of the plan.
Teachers of the law, finally rejoiced and mocked Jesus. finally they got rid of their enemy.
Purpose is not glamorous it is painful and it is COSTLY. Many want to pursue purpose not realizing that it would cost them everything even to the point of unaliving.
– IT IS FINISHED
A moment that changed history.
At noon ( 12pm ) darkness came over the entire land until 3 pm ( 3 hours of darkness)
Then Jesus cried out in a loud voice, id imagine this voice would be filled with sorrow and pain, but also expectation.
Why have you forsaken me? Psalm 22:1
With a loud cry jesus breathed his last
This is who we are following, this is who our GOD is!
JOhn 3:16
Curtain torn in two – it is finished! completeness, purpose fulfilled.
Centurion came to GOD, the very one who mocked JESUS recognized his power.
SURELY this man was the Son of GOD
DARKNESS over the entire earth for three hours, the curtain of the temple torn in two.
Preparation Day – (the day before the Sabbath)

Close your eyes and visualize the trial and torture of Jesus. Imagine the venomous accusations thrown at Him. Hear the crowds shout, “Crucify him!” Picture the beating Jesus endures. Witness Pilate issue Jesus’ execution, as the crowd erupts in cheer. This suffering depicts God’s love for you–just so you could be saved and redeemed. Out of His great love for you, He endured and suffered. Now thank Him for His sacrificial love. Spend time worshipping Him as the One who suffered for you and loves you perfectly.
Your Story is important to someone else. The details of your testimony are life to someone else. I couldn’t have spoken into strangers life, if I myself did not go through the battles. I can only speak because I know the pain, the hurt, and confusion. I pray God comforts us, and gives us the grace to tell our story, no matter how small the details are.
Let’s not hesitate to share our testimonies and help each other walk through the valleys, and reach our destinations together. With a sense of fulfillment, and helping others get there can be a rewarding and satisfying experience, because when we lift each other up, we don’t just reach our destinations, we thrive in them.
I’d love to share your Story on my SITE!
