In Christian belief, Grace refers to the unearned and unconditional love and favor of God towards humanity. It signifies that individuals receive blessings and forgiveness not based on their merits or works, but as a gift from God.
another definition of grace means elegance in movement, showing a smooth and beautiful way of moving or acting.

That’s when I came up with the idea of this article, and decided to share my wisdom on the topic.

Ministry was taking over my life, as I focused on serving others in every way possible, neglecting myself in the process, as a result, I often burned out

Here are some ways I have implemented this strategy, and how you can too, with elegance and God’s favor
Balance started with prioritizing my relationship with God, and intentional FOCUS of my spiritual growth & development. I leaned on scripture, study, and reflection to stay spiritually refreshed in the early mornings, before the sun is even up. I recommend YouVersion Bible App to START with, this app keeps me accountable with devotionals and daily verses. A few scriptures that have been my anchor in those seasons of life. Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Ecclesiastes 4:9 – “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.”

I picked up Journaling, reflection and study. Writing out my thoughts and prayers on a piece of paper or journal was a game changer. Reflecting on what I read, and studying topics with a more intensive approach, was quite helpful and informative. Journaling my thoughts and reflections helped me process what God is teaching me, and reading faith-based books strengthened my walk with GOD challenging me to grow and develop spiritually.
Boundaries” by Dr. Henry Cloud & Dr. John Townsend – Learning to set healthy limits while still honoring my calling. This was quite eye opening book to read, I have discovered as well as challenged my areas of no boundaries, and clearly outlined them.
“The Walk” by Shawn Alexander– A simple guide to understanding Christian discipleship and different stages of it. I read this book along with my husband, we have been learning much, and applying what we learned to our lives.
“Understanding Jesus” by Stephen M. Miller – A deep dive into the historical and cultural context of Jesus’ teachings, life, and miracles. Get ready for THIS one, it is quite challenging to read, but BOY is it informative and helpful in the long run.
Ministry and motherhood are deeply fulfilling, but they also require rest and renewal. This is why I intentionally set that time aside for myself because it is quite needed in my walk and journey.
I stay refreshed through:
Quiet reflection & prayer – Taking moments to pause and reconnect with God. Matthew 11:28 reminds me, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Listening to worship music– My go-to artists include Lee Vasi, Francesca Battistelli, Lecrae, Rebekah Shae, and TobyMac—music that uplifts my spirit and keeps me grounded throughout my day.
Faith-Based Podcasts & Sermons – Encouraging conversations that feed my soul while I’m on the go, learning and growing in grace and wisdom with every passing moment on my commute or running and catching up with errands.
Self-care routines – Whether it’s journaling, exercising, running, or simply resting, taking care of myself allows me to pour into others with joy, clarity, and sound mind. This not only enhances my personal health but also enables me to support and uplift those around me more effectively.
As a mother and minister, I’ve learned the importance of time management, grace, and boundaries, and it wouldn’t be possible had I not read and prioritized these books, tools & resources in my life.
Prioritizing Tasks – Making intentional choices about where my time and energy goes. I no longer spend time hours on the phone entertaining people, I am intentional with my time and energy.
Assigning tasks & seeking support – Leaning on others in ministry and family life eases burdens. Ecclesiastes 4:9 reminds us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” I have joined a Community of support, and I lean on that support to keep me grounded and balanced with my family, and personal relations with others. I am working on delegating tasks so my burden of being overwhelmed is lifted. I need GRACE in this area.
Consistency & Grace – I have to constantly make room for GRACE, and learn to be consistent with my words and actions. Its not always easy, yet it is a challenge that I take on daily. Balance is a journey, not perfection—it’s okay to adjust and reset anytime you like.
faith, patience, and unconditional love. The Call of Motherhood has been the GREATEST GIFT to humankind and I do not take my position lightly. I used to be upset and embarrassed about my call as a mother, now I take pride and honor in who I am. I am intentional with my calling as a mother, and I am accountable to GOD.
Some books that encourage me in this season include:
“Nourish” by Katie Farrell – Encouragement on balancing wellness and spiritual growth. I absolutely love and recommend this BOOK over and over again. I have read it at least 3 times.
“Girl, Stop Apologizing” by Rachel Hollis – My latest read, and I am absolutely loving it. it’s about embracing confidence and purpose without guilt, shame or condemnation, wearing your crown and shining.
“Thrive” by Arriana Huffington – Living intentionally, creating a life of well being, wisdom and wonder.
For years, ministry, and people in it, overtook my life, leading to burnout and exhaustion. But by learning to set boundaries, saying yes to myself, and creating my group, I was able to step into a season of balance, growth, and peace. If you’re struggling to find balance in your faith journey, remember—it’s okay to shift, adjust, and redefine what ministry looks like for you. You don’t have to do it all, you can balance it all!
I find a quiet spot by the river, pray and release heavy burdens off my shoulders, and heart. I also take a quiet nature walk and enjoy the silence, or chirping of birds surrounding me. You don’t get that everyday, in the hustle and bustle of daily life
Balancing life and activities is the key to life, and happiness. Learn to navigate through it.
Your Story is important to someone else. The details of your testimony are life to someone else. I couldn’t have spoken into strangers life, if I myself did not go through the battles. I can only speak because I know the pain, the hurt, and confusion. I pray God comforts us, and gives us the grace to tell our story, no matter how small the details are.
Let’s not hesitate to share our testimonies and help each other walk through the valleys, and reach our destinations together. With a sense of fulfillment, and helping others get there can be a rewarding and satisfying experience, because when we lift each other up, we don’t just reach our destinations, we thrive in them.
I’d love to share your Story on my SITE!
