Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
Cleaning is part of our daily routine, to improve our lifestyles and stay healthy
Just like in the natural world, we wash our faces, clean our hands, and take showers, our spirit, mind, and heart need cleansing too. Our hearts and minds can get polluted too. Our spirits can get impure too! With all the things that are going on in the world and all the negativity that is surrounding us, we should be cleansing our spirit even more so.
Not only that, the things we watch can be harmful to us, the things we hear can damage our hearing in the spirit, our spiritual vision can be damaged too, causing blockage and hindering the voice, and unction of the spirit of GOD. Because of this, we may not see things clearly in the spirit realm, hear, or feel with our senses. Our senses may not be clear, we may make assumptions, and with assumptions comes misunderstanding.
Just like we examine our bodies, and KNOW when we need to take a shower, or look at our hands, and KNOW when it’s time to wash hands, we must also examine our minds, and our hearts, through the word of GOD, and be AWARE of when we are in need of cleansing.
David, in pursuit of God’s heart, knew this all too well. He examined his heart, checked his spirit, and passed on a pattern for us to follow. A cleansing pattern, and it is found in the book of Psalm 139:23-24 followed by Psalm 51
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
We live in the world, but we are not of this world. We exist in the world, but we function not as the world does. As we enter into the world we must not conform to the standards of this world, but rather renew our minds with God’s HOLY WORD. If there is anything in us that is causing us to act prideful, wicked, we must take that into account and hand it over to GOD. When we surrender to God HE is faithful and just to forgive us of all unrighteousness and cleanse our hearts. Psalm 51: 1-4
Lord,
Before I start this day, examine my heart and know my thoughts. Are there any offensive thoughts in me, displeasing to your sight? Anything that hinders me, blocks me from your presence? Anything in me that does not bring you Glory?
Take the awful stain of my transgressions, wash me clean, purify my heart, and renew my spirit.
Let your GRACE and MERCY pour on me, let your love, and compassion see me.
I admit my shameful behavior, and actions and ask you to step in. Cleanse me with your blood, that flows from Calvary, Wash over my mind, purify my heart.
Create in me a clean heart oh Lord, renew a right spirit within me. Purge me with hyssop, make me whiter than snow.
Fill me with your thoughts, cleanse my emotions, straighten my will power.
I thank you father, for your loving-kindness, and mercy, in the precious name of Jesus, Amen! 🔥
