Stewed Cabbage

Stewed cabbage is a simple and easy dish that can be enjoyed on its own, or as a side dish to any Dish, I serve it with Rice or Potatoes …

Serves 4-6 people

Time: 20-40 min

Cooking is not just about nourishing our bodies – it is also a way to connect with others and express our creativity.

Ingredients

Measure, combine and saute the following ingredients: 

  • 1 tbsp oil and 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 carrot grated 
  • 5 to 6 stalks green onions chopped thinly
  • 2 cloves garlic finely chopped

  • chicken of choice (drums, wings, thigh) seasoned (salt, garlic pwd, creole seasoning)
  •  1/2 cabbage chopped thinly, and salted
  • 2 tbsp Raguu Sauce or ketchub ( YES Ukrainian cooks substitude ketchub a lot)
  • Seasoning to taste ( my preference is 1/2 tsp Salt, 1/4 tsp Black Pepper, 1 tsp Creole Seasoning, 1 tsp garlic powd and 1 sazon goya pack seasoning )

Directions

  1. 1. Add vegetable oil, and butter to a frying pan over medium heat. Once butter is melted, add the onion, gr onion, carrot, and garlic to a pan and saute until translucent. Season with salt, garlic powd, Creole Seasoning any pepper if you like. 
  2. 2. Season, and Brown chicken on both sides until ready in a separate pan, add to the mix.  
  3. 3. Add 1 tsp salt to cabbage, crunch it until its distributed evently into it.
  4. 4. Add Raguu Sauce or ketchub on top, mix well. Let it COOK another 20 minutes until soft and cooked down. 
  5. 5. Serve warm, with White Rice or any kind of Rice, enjoy!

FYI: YES Rice Cooker is the fastest and easiest way} I totally recommend it, but you can also saute in a simple frying pan as well.
