Starting Over

April 24, 2025

We all have good intentions—setting goals, committing to healthier habits, promising ourselves we’ll stay consistent. But somewhere along the way, life happens, and excuses creep in. Not today, I’m too tired. Not today, I’ll start fresh tomorrow. Sound familiar?

We justify skipping workouts, convincing ourselves that small breaks wouldn’t hurt.

But here’s the truth

Consistency is the key to lasting success, and when we stop being consistent, our progress begins to slip away.

Why We Skip Workouts

We all have good intentions—setting goals, committing to healthier habits, promising ourselves we’ll stay consistent. But somewhere along the way, life happens, and excuses start to creep in.

Committing to a new habit feels great in the beginning—you’re motivated, energized, and excited to see results. But what happens when that motivation fades? When excuses start piling up, and the consistency you worked so hard to build starts slipping away?

It’s easy to find excuses. Life gets busy, motivation wanes, and sometimes, we simply don’t feel like it. However, each missed workout can lead to a chain reaction that affects not just our physical health but our mental well-being as well.

The Ripple Effect

1. Physical Decline: Missing workouts can lead to a decrease in strength, endurance, and overall fitness levels.
2. Mental Barriers: Each skipped session can create a mental block, making it harder to get back into the routine.
3. Loss of Motivation: The longer we stay away from our fitness goals, the more daunting they can seem.

" But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service]."
1 Corinthians 9:27
NIV BIBLE

This scripture serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of self-discipline in all aspects of life, including our fitness journeys. Just as a boxer trains to prepare for a fight, we too must commit to our health and well-being to serve ourselves and others effectively.

Re-establishing Consistency

We must prioritize consistency over perfection. Here are some strategies to help you stay on track:

Set Realistic Goals

Start Small: Aim for goals that fit into your lifestyle. This can help build momentum without overwhelming you.
Track Progress: Keep a journal or use fitness apps to monitor your workouts. Seeing your progress can motivate you to keep going.

Create a Routine

Schedule Workouts: Treat your workouts like important appointments. Block out time in your calendar to ensure you make fitness a priority.
Find an Accountability Partner: Partnering with someone can increase accountability and make exercising more enjoyable.

so, why wait?

Overcoming Setbacks

Five days behind? Yes, it’s a setback, but it’s not defeat. My commitment to my fitness journey remains strong, and I refuse to let missed days become missed opportunities.

Staying consistent isn’t about never slipping—it’s about getting back up, realigning with my goals, and moving forward with determination.

I know that with renewed focus and discipline, I’ll regain my momentum and be back on track in no time.

Remember, every small step counts.

Consistency doesn’t mean perfection; it means showing up, even on the tough days. By committing to your fitness journey, you’re investing in your health and well-being for the long term.

Growth isn’t about being perfect—it’s about refusing to quit.

"What’s one habit you’re committing to in 2025 that will bring more gratitude, kindness, or positivity into your life?

LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS 💭

In the meantime…

live life to the fullest, laugh as much as you can, love without condition or measure.

Your Story is important to someone else. The details of your testimony are life to someone else. I couldn’t have spoken into strangers life, if I myself did not go through the battles. I can only speak because I know the pain, the hurt, and confusion. I pray God comforts us, and gives us the grace to tell our story, no matter how small the details are.

Let’s not hesitate to share our testimonies and help each other walk through the valleys, and reach our destinations together. With a sense of fulfillment, and helping others get there can be a rewarding and satisfying experience, because when we lift each other up, we don’t just reach our destinations, we thrive in them.

I’d love to share your Story on my SITE!
