So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?
Luke 10:36
NIV BIBLE

Who exactly is my neighbor? Jesus answered by telling the story of the Good Samaritan, a man who helped a Jewish stranger who had been beaten and robbed and left for dead by the roadside.

Our modern word neighbor derives from two Old English words for “near” and “inhabitant.” In modern terms, it describes a person living near or next door. But we tend to think in more limited terms: a person living near or next door that I know personally.

Jesus definition of neighbor was different. It arose out of a conversation with a lawyer who said that the law could be summarized as loving God and loving one’s neighbor (Luke 10:25-37)

But the lawyer then asked Jesus what a modern person might ask: “Who exactly is my neighbor?” Jesus answered by telling the story of the Good Samaritan, a man who helped a Jewish stranger who had been beaten and robbed and left for dead by the roadside. Two Jewish religious leaders had passed by without offering help. But the Samaritan man stopped and helped the victim and took care of his needs. This was amazing because Jews and Samaritans were enemies in that day.

Jesus point was this: Your neighbor is anyone with a need that you are able to meet. Look for a neighbor whose needs you’re able to meet.

Prayer

Father in Jesus name, Thank you for this day and the opportunity to to be an extension of You. Help us to remember to reach outside of our immediate family and show Your compassion, kindness, and love. Help us to live what we teach and not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. You teach us to lead by example. You’re the greatest teacher we could’ve ever hope for. Today help us to be the unexpected blessing someone needs and extend our hands in some way. Little is much with the righteous. When we take care of Your business, You’ll take care of ours. We’re reminded that to a person that knows to do good and does not do it, to that person it’s a sin. (James 4:17). Help us to exemplify real love every day. We love You and give You all of the praise glory. Touch and Heal according to Your will. Comfort the bereaved. Amen

“…And Love thy neighbor as thy self.” Our nationality should never surpass our faith and it’s duties.

LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS 💭

Your Story is important to someone else. The details of your testimony are life to someone else. I couldn’t have spoken into strangers life, if I myself did not go through the battles. I can only speak because I know the pain, the hurt, and confusion. I pray God comforts us, and gives us the grace to tell our story, no matter how small the details are.

Let’s not hesitate to share our testimonies and help each other walk through the valleys, and reach our destinations together. With a sense of fulfillment, and helping others get there can be a rewarding and satisfying experience, because when we lift each other up, we don’t just reach our destinations, we thrive in them.

I’d love to share your Story on my SITE!
