The reason we feel heavy, and overburdened, with pressures of life is that we are trying to do it ALL on our own. We are trying to carry our troubles on our own, when we were designed to bring them to Christ. We are like that child that refuses to get help carrying groceries. We know it’s heavy, but I’m a big boy and I can handle it, I got it! I’m a big girl, look at me go!
And then all if sudden, groceries get spilled, and tears begin to fall, and we become frustrated refusing to get help. We will blame our circumstances, and accuse our situations, without fully recognizing that it was PRIDE that got us there in the first place.
A YOKE is meant to be carried by two individuals, or animals, it was never designed for one person to carry. This is why Jesus is calling us, to himself, so we can find rest for our souls.
Do you hear him, calling you? Will you listen, and heed to the calling of God? Will you BRING all of your burdens, troubles, to the foot of the cross, and leave them there?!
That is where you will find rest.
Jesus, I’ve carried a burden too long on my own, I wasn’t created to carry it on alone. Pick up my cross, and help me, Jesus. I confess trying to make it on my own. I lay my troubles down, my situations down, my worries, my questions, my speculations. Lord, I need your rest, for you are gentle, and humble at heart. Teach me your ways, direct my steps! Take my yoke, for I cannot do this on my own. I need your help daddy, I need your help. In Jesus’ name, I pray! Amen!
